Deep Surfaces

Since the creation of the first edition of The contemporary drawing art fair in 2007, we always show, within the fair, a tematic cultural exhibition, reporting the diversity of the drawing, through the presented works, the personalities who accompany us and the artists.

This year, the Artistic Director Philippe Piguet invites you to discover the exhibition “Deep Surfaces”:

…the exhibition ‘Deep Surfaces’ (à fleur de peau) presented as part of DRAWING NOW|PARIS purposefully assembles works that employ a vast array of figures and materials             as well as the most diverse techniques and procedures. Here, drawing exists in all its forms, pushing against the conventional limits of normative hesitation and inviting the viewer to reconsider its nature, status, and function. Drawing – otherwise – somehow.”

MASTER NOW!

For DRAWING NOW’s 10th anniversary, a dozen galleries will display artworks by recognized contemporary artists they represent and which they consider true masterpieces. From one booth to another, these pieces will be highlighted with particular attention. This will create a remarkable tour throughout the fair, leading up to the pinnacle “MASTER NOW” section to follow on these stands: Christian Berst Art Brut, with Fengyi Guo, Galerie Bernard Ceysson, with Claude Viallat, Galerie Jean Fournier, with Michel Parmentier, Galerie Jeanne Bucher Jaeger, with Jean Dubuffet, Galerie Bernard Jordan, with Paul van der Eerden, Galerie Lelong, with Pierre Alechinsky, Galerie Papillon, with Erik Deetman, Galerie Catherine Putman, with Georg Baselitz, Semiose, with William Burroughs, Galerie Suzanne Tarasiève, with Markus Lüpertz, Galerie GP & N Vallois, with Richard Jackson.

NOW IS OUR FUTURE

Since DRAWING NOW PARIS initiated the very first salon devoted to contemporary drawing in 2007, an expert committee has been entrusted with overseeing gallery selection. Some fifteen collectors, art critics, institutional representatives, and other art connoisseurs have devotedly formed selective choices over the past decade. In tribute to their efforts, as well as to celebrate the salon’s 10th anniversary, we have asked all willing committee members to appoint an artwork by an emerging artist that, in their view, exemplifizes a distinctive aspect of contemporary drawing.
Whether these pieces stem from their personal collections, artist studios, or from galleries, the artworks thus assembled will showcase the richness of artistic expression today.
