Guided tour of the exhibition “ALPHABETA SIGMA (Side A)” in Rammellzee
The Palais de Tokyo and the Capc Musée d’art contemporain de Bordeaux are joining forces to present “ALPHABETA SIGMA”, the first major European celebration of the enigmatic work of RAMMELLZEE, a key figure in the New York alternative scene of the 1980s. Conceived in two acts, like the faces of a vinyl or an audio cassette, the exhibition explores a prolific artistic practice combining theoretical and poetic writing, painting, sculpture, music, performance, cinema, costumes and jewelry.
Face A, at the Palais de Tokyo (Paris) from February 21 to September 7, 2025, highlights the sensitive surfaces of his work: writing, painting, spray, resin, black light and textiles. Face B, at the Capc (Bordeaux) from March 12 to September 20, 2026, offers an X-ray, exploring the structural and conceptual dimension of his work.
Without claiming to be exhaustive or a classic retrospective, “ALPHABETA SIGMA” plunges into the heart of the “armamentation” developed by RAMMELLZEE, a symbolic reflection against language and its violence, where letters, arrows and masks become so many plastic and conceptual weapons.
