La galerie, fondée en 1991, met l'accent sur l’art qui reflète l'engagement personnel de l'artiste. Le dessin y occupe une place prominente car c'est là que les concepts et les idées prennent forme. Grâce à la nature informelle et directe du dessin l'artiste peut se livrer pleinement. La peinture exposée est presque toujours figurative, là aussi, la dimension personnelle est importante, au même titre que l'individualité ou l'originalité. Les œuvres tridimensionnelles se caractérisent par un langage personnel affirmé ou des experiments de d'investir l'espace et d'explorer les processus naturels. La galerie est par ailleurs consciente qu'elle doit aussi être un lieu d'expérimentation. Au moins une fois par an, un artiste y présente une installation ou un projet.
Présentation du projet
Black Sun is a project Ruben Bellinkx (1975) realized in 2022, based on earlier drawings and watercolours that resulted in a film for which he built a live size bedroom. It consits of two versions in which we see two kinds of strange intruders visit the same room. The first projection captures a flock of birds that, having left their natural habitat, enter a sterile bedroom. In the second projection, we see a swarm of drones occupy the same room. The softer lighting tells us that it’s a different time of day to the other visit. But just like the birds, these unmanned aerial devices also explore the bedroom.
The two projections mirror and question each other on different levels. They interrogate the complex relationship between nature and technology, object and subject, order and chaos.
