Presentation of the gallery
Florent Maubert created Galerie Maubert in 2010. With an academic and curatorial background in the visual arts and contemporary dance, he chooses to confront different mediums and art forms.
Galerie Maubert is a pioneer in the field of young artists. These artists question themes that punctuate the history of art and our contemporary societies: perception, gesture, use, space, movement... It also represents artists already established on the art scene (Agnès Geoffray, Sylvie Fanchon, Nicolas Floc'h...) and historical artists (Larry Bell, Joachim Bandau, Micha Laury...) whose recognition it supports in the economic, critical and historical spheres.
Galerie Maubert is a member of the Comité Professionnel des Galeries d'Art and of Paris Gallery MAP. It takes part in international fairs such as Art Brussels, Paris Photo, Art-o-rama, Art Cologne, Drawing Now, ARCO Madrid, Art Rotterdam, Independent...
Présentation de l'artiste en focus
Galerie Maubert presents a focus on Micha Laury's seminal 1960s series: inspired by aerial views observed while he was a paratrooper in the Israeli army, these abstract landscapes reflect an attempt to re-read the world in the face of the absurdity of conflict. In dialogue, new drawings by Nicolas Daubanes extend his study of memorial narratives and landscapes. Unpublished works by Angélique Moire, based on anonymous photographs, continue this disturbance of vision and memory. Reworked Polaroids by Payram feature sleeping Iranian exiles, brought to life by the rubbing of still-malleable pigments. Finally, Erik Nussbicker's drawings offer an inner resonance, where the exploration of the world becomes metaphysical.
