Presentation of the gallery
Founded in 2008 by Rina Zavagli, Galerie Martel promotes artists who share a common artistic vision. It explores new territories and breaks down the boundaries between modes of expression - from comics to illustration, painting and animation. One of the first galleries to promote comics as an art form in its own right, it offers them a central place in its exhibitions.
Committed to reflecting the diversity of contemporary drawing, the gallery showcases both internationally renowned artists and emerging talents, offering each a genuine sounding board. These multiple collaborations have shaped a singular identity and contributed to reinforcing the continuum of graphic arts.
2024 represents a pivotal year in the history of the Galerie. We were delighted to inaugurate a new exhibition space in Brussels, the capital of comics and contemporary art. Thanks to this new project, the fruit of several years' work, the artists with whom we work can continue to express their talent by reaching out to new audiences.
