Presentation of the gallery
Founded in 2012 by architect Alexis Rastel, Archiraar gallery represents international artists
of the emerging generation and collaborates with curators.
Housed in a Brutalist building in Brussels, its two complementary spaces host
projects in resonance. The white cube is the artistic laboratory, while the black cube offers a more domestic
approach.
Présentation de l'artiste en focus
Three series by Roman Moriceau trace the evolution of his practice, linked to the fragile balance of nature. The drawing is the result of a process of encounter between matter and paper. The image invoked carries a secret meaning. For the Mono no aware series, Moriceau recovers wilted flowers. Using colored smoke, he prints them on paper. Propelled out of the frame, they in turn disappear into dust. With the series of smoke-revealed birds, Moriceau saves the fleeting outlines of extinct species. The third series gives new life to discarded materials. Here and there, the artist gleans nail polish from the fast-fashion industry and tells another story, that of collective memory.
