Guided tour of the Fondation Cartier general exhibition
Guided tour of the Fondation CartierGeneral Exhibition.
Exposition Générale retraces forty years of contemporary art at the Fondation Cartier, drawing on a collection shaped by its programming. By reactivating the social, cultural and architectural heritage of its building and its openness to the city, it sketches out an alternative cartography of contemporary art and inaugurates, through its new architectural layout designed by Jean Nouvel, a renewed approach to the exhibition.
Reflecting the history of the institution, its programming and its openness to the world in all its diversity, the Fondation Cartier Collection traces forty years of international contemporary creation. TheGeneral Exhibition presents the founding principles of this unique heritage through emblematic works and selected fragments of exhibitions that have punctuated its programming since its creation in 1984. It reveals the living character of a collection that, throughout its history, has been built through exhibitions.
