Presentation of the gallery
Founded in 1911, Artur Ramon Art is one of Barcelona's oldest galleries. For four generations, the gallery has developed a singular approach that combines the heritage of the antique dealer with an open and resolutely contemporary vision. Its activity covers painting and drawing, from ancient to modern and contemporary, as well as a select group of decorative arts that contribute to its identity.
Drawing occupies a central place in the gallery's history, seen not simply as a preparatory medium, but as an autonomous language capable of spanning the centuries and engaging in dialogue with current practices. This focus on paper is reflected in our regular presence at the main international fairs dedicated to drawing and works on paper, including the Salon du Dessin in Paris, Master Drawings New York and TEFAF Maastricht.
Présentation de l'artiste en focus
Our project focuses on the artists Josep and Pere Santilari. Twin brothers, they share a common artistic language based on an exceptional mastery of drawing and painting. Working mainly on small formats, they develop an extreme precision that deliberately blurs the boundaries between the drawn image and photographic perception.
Their work explores classic themes such as still life, the female nude and vanitas, revisited with a contemporary sensibility, attentive to the silence of objects, the suspension of time and the fragility of the image. Drawing plays a central role, both as a space for rigorous observation and as a terrain for illusion.
The Santilari brothers have exhibited at Kunsthalle Hamburg, MEAM and Fundació Vila Casas in Barcelona, Galerie Le Claire Kunst in Hamburg, Stuart Lochhead in London, and Galerie Éric Coatalem and Galerie de l'Artborescence in Paris. Their work, praised in Timothy Standring's book Ineffability, is now part of major public and private collections, including the National Gallery of Art in Washington.
