Presentation of the gallery
Galerie C defends a humanist and generous vision of art. It aspires to sincere exchanges with its public, and is committed to working closely with and for its artists - through off-site exhibitions, publications and accompanying them in institutional exhibitions. Nine years after its creation in Neuchâtel (Switzerland) in 2011 by Christian Egger, Galerie C will open a second exhibition space in September 2020. Located in Paris, in the heart of the Marais district, and conceived as a continuation of its large Swiss space (around 400m2 of exhibition space), this smaller branch is imagined as a project space. It is an opportunity for the gallery team to think about new ways of presenting its artists, as well as to program exhibitions that resonate with events in Switzerland, contemporary art fairs and the institutional exhibitions of the artists represented.
Présentation de l'artiste en focus
We would like to highlight the work of Lionel Sabatté, one of the artists shortlisted for the prestigious Prix Marcel Duchamp 2025. His presence in focus on our booth underlines the importance and singularity of his artistic approach, rooted in constant research into the transformation of materials and their vitality. We present a new series of owls, emblematic figures of his universe, created through a subtle dialogue between drawing techniques and oxidation processes on paper. This combination, characteristic of his work, reflects his interest in metamorphosis, in the passage from one state to another, and in the way in which matter itself becomes a vector of meaning and poetry.
