Presentation of the gallery
To visit Galerie Catherine Issert is to explore 50 years of artistic creation.
Located in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, a village marked by the visits of modern artists and the proximity of avant-garde centers, the gallery, which opened in 1975, represents several generations of French and international artists.
Since its creation, the gallery has presented four exhibitions a year and participated in contemporary art fairs.
To mark its 50th anniversary in June 2025, a book will be published retracing encounters with artists and exhibitions.
Présentation de l'artiste en focus
For this year's Drawing Now 2026, the gallery presents Yayoï GUNJI as a focus artist.
Represented by the gallery since 2020, Yayoï Gunji, of Japanese descent, offers a repertoire of forms that reinvent memories of a fantasized Japan nourished by a universe that we suspect is just as Mediterranean. With a free, singular touch and a surprising chromaticism, the artist's drawings reveal a poetic, intimate world, shrouded in personal mythologies. The artist's proposal consists of a series of drawings, on khadi paper, designed for the show.
