Presentation of the gallery

Established in Tokyo in 1998, Gallery KITAI primarily deals with contemporary Japanese works using Sumi (ink in Japanese), such as calligraphy and Japanese painting. Since 2000, we have mainly participated in art fairs in Europe and the United States. In 2018, we participated as a special collaborator in the curated exhibition "Contemporary SHO—See, Know and Feel Today's Calligraphy" at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, primarily showcasing the works of Sogen Chiba. In 2020, we added a major piece of calligraphy by Sogen Chiba to the LACMA Collection on the west coast of the United States. Recently, we mainly participate in Art on Paper and Drawing art fairs in Europe.
