Presentation of the gallery
LABS Contemporary Art was founded from an idea by Alessandro Luppi in October 2014.. Since its inception, the space was created as a place dedicated to research, with particular attention to the dialogue between historicized art and contemporary art. There is a strong link between the exhibition space and the history of the city. The building, where our gallery is located, dates back to the 13th century, when the hospice of St. Blaise stood in its place, and connected to the hospice building was the Church of St. Mary of Ceriola.
With a desire to promote national and international artists, the gallery today continues its activities through direct work with artists, consolidating long-standing relationships and presenting new personalities from the contemporary scene.
A constant collaboration between private and public entities remains a core pillar of its ethos.
Présentation de l'artiste en focus
We are pleased to propose a project for DRAWING NOW featuring four artists, including two with a historical presence at the Venice Biennale: Claudio Verna (1970, 1978, 1980) and Greta Schödl (1980, 2025). Verna’s Analytic Painting explores color, form, and perception with geometric rigor and expressive freedom. Schödl creates a visual poetry of signs and traces, transforming letters, symbols, and surfaces into abstract compositions that preserve memory and suggest alternative forms of expression. Luca Grechi offers layered, contemplative paintings that invite reflection and pause, while Paula Santomé presents a new series on paper and aluminum, merging material innovation with expressive subtlety. The project presents a generational dialogue on drawing.
