Guided tour of the “TIMO HERBST: EXQUISIT BODY” exhibition
Guided tour of the exhibition TIMO HERBST : EXQUISIT BODY
With the collaboration of Duane CorpisMarcus Nebe and Bahaa Talis
From March 17, 2026 to May 25 2026 at Goethe-Institut of Paris
The exhibition EXQUISITE BODY presents major installations by Timo Herbst, artist born in Flensburg and living between Berlin and Paris, who explore the movement of the human body. Using fragmented, isolated gestures, they construct a new view of how bodies transform themselves, leave traces and act in social contexts. The exhibition invites us to reflect on the role played by bodies in our perception, communication and life in society today.
The solo exhibition at the Goethe-Institut in Paris brings together five major installations by Timo Herbst since 2015: EPHEMERA, POSITIONINGS, POINT OF COINCIDENCE, RHYTHMUSANALYSIS and PLAY BY RULES. Each of these works deals in its own way with the movement of the human body and its individual and collective history. Inspired by Cadavre exquis developed by Surrealist artists, the installations work with fragmented sequences of movement and disjointed temporal elements that come together to form an overall image. This succession of fragments makes visible the traces and data of bodily movements, and places them in relation to one another. It opens up access to the social spaces that emerge from these movements, are transformed by them and, in turn, influence them.
