Presentation of the gallery

Active since 2014, Quai4 galerie is a modern and dynamic art space located on the banks of the Meuse, in the heart of the city of Liège.
A place distinguished by its architecture, offering exhibitions in a refined yet warm setting, where visitors can admire paintings, sculptures, drawings, photography and installations.
The gallery is known for its varied program and its willingness to showcase emerging artists, often alongside more established artists.
Also offering "hors les murs" exhibitions, the programming is based on rather contemplative forms of expression, highlighting the sensitive and vulnerable side of art with a serious lightness. The temporary exhibitions organized at Quai4 galerie reflect the diversity of today's art scene, with a variety of themes and styles, the common thread of which is the sensitivity that seems to unite the artists.
A choice that gallery owner Cécile Servais assumes, having already won over a varied public of collectors, enthusiasts and the curious, who are happy to follow the gallery's development.

Présentation de l'artiste en focus

Belgian-Japanese artist Michiko Van de Velde paints, draws and engraves what escapes her: the fleeting light phenomena that reveal the passage of time. Inspired by komorebi - the light filtering through the leaves - she transforms the ground into a mirror of the sky, capturing the image of the sun as if in a camera obscura.
Her work combines slowness and speed: the slowness of the plant, the speed of the earth's rotation, the fleeting instant of light, the patience of the gesture. Her paintings, drawings and engravings preserve the trace of these ephemeral moments, inviting the viewer to slow down and perceive what usually disappears unseen.
