Presentation of the gallery
Since 2017, Irène Laub Gallery has been exhibiting established and emerging international artists in its Brussels space and at selected international fairs. The artists represented by the gallery are actively engaged in questioning social, political and architectural space. They present a diverse body of work - including installation, video, sculpture, painting and drawing - characterized by a pure and powerful aesthetic. The gallery is conceived as a space for experimentation, enabling artists to test the boundaries of their chosen discipline, either by testing the physical structure of the work itself and its place in space, or by exploring the relevance of their creations in the social sphere. In 2018, the gallery is investing in a new space and dedicating itself to developing a demanding and ambitious exhibition program, aimed at promoting a productive dialogue between artists, curators and institutions.
Présentation de l'artiste en focus
Guillermo Mora is a Spanish artist based in Madrid. His mural series "Si Pero No" is composed of stapled sheets of paper that are then torn off. The colored sheets are attached directly to the wall by several hundred staples, creating a monochrome flatness that the artist irreverently deconstructs. The colored sheets are fixed directly to the wall with several hundred staples, creating a monochrome flatness that the artist will irreverently deconstruct. The works 1000 Puntos de Luz y Sombra (A Seurat) follow the same process of deconstructing paper, accumulated and fixed to a wooden support with staples. The superimposition of fragments recalls the brushstrokes of certain pointillist compositions, also evoking a deconstruction of landscape.
