Presentation of the gallery

The Catherine Putman Gallery specializes in works on paper by contemporary artists: drawings, photographs and prints.

Located on the edge of the Marais in the Centre Pompidou district, the gallery is located upstairs, in a space that enjoys an intimate atmosphere and adapted to the presentation of works on paper.

Directed for over fifteen years by Éléonore Chatin, the gallery works regularly with its historic artists: Geneviève Asse, Pierre Buraglio, Georg Baselitz, Jean Messagier, Georges Noël, Sophie Ristelhueber, Georges Rousse, Agathe May and Bernard Moninot. It has also opened up to new collaborations with Dana Cojbuc, Keita Mori, Carmen Perrin, Frédéric Poincelet, Frédéric Malette and Éloïse Van der Heyden. The gallery presents five to six exhibitions a year - monographic or group - and takes part in various fairs in France and abroad.

The gallery also retains its activity as an art publisher initiated by Jacques and Catherine Putman in the 70s. The exhibitions, most often monographic, highlight both unique works and multiples.

Présentation de l'artiste en focus

Our focus will be on works by Abel Pradalié, whose first solo show at the gallery is scheduled for September 2026.
We will be exhibiting a selection of small-format works on paper, all of the same dimensions, combining two themes characteristic of the artist's universe. Abel Pradalié constantly revisits the subjects of great classical and realist painting: landscapes and female nudes. The former are painted on the spot, caught in the act; the latter, based on live models, reveal a sensitive intimacy, and their tight framing verges on the erotic.
The confrontation of these two themes, united by the same format, is a dialogue between art history and intimacy, an epicurean work in which the past merges with the present.
