Presentation of the gallery

22.48 m² is a contemporary art gallery dedicated to promoting emerging artists. Founded in 2010 by Rosario Caltabiano, it actively contributes to the French and international contemporary art scene.
Its name refers to the size of its first exhibition space in Belleville, Paris, a modest venue that encouraged artists to rethink their practices and encourage experimentation.
In 2023, the gallery moved to Romainville, becoming part of the collective KOMUNUMA project, alongside other galleries and artistic structures. Located in a cultural district that also hosts the FRAC Île-de-France Reserves, the Fiminco Foundation and workshops, it is part of an ecosystem dedicated to contemporary art and live performance. While benefiting from a larger space, the gallery retains its original name, in homage to its initial spirit: to promote emerging talent and explore a diversity of artistic mediums, from painting to digital art. It also organizes events, such as performances, meetings and workshops, to strengthen the links between art and the public.

Présentation de l'artiste en focus

At Drawing Now, we present a solo show featuring new drawings and ceramics by Ellande Jaureguiberry. Ellande has been practicing drawing and ceramics since his studies at ÉSAM in Caen, from which he graduated in 2016. He alternates between the long time of drawing - scratching paper, composing with few means - and the more direct rhythm of ceramics, finding his balance between these two practices. While each medium exists on its own, they interact as soon as they are brought together. Ceramic rods become recurring motifs on paper. Fruits, flowers, branches or body fragments - tongues, torsos, ears, hands - often recur, drawn with meticulous precision. Inspired by the anatomical plates of the 1950s, their colors and shifts towards abstraction, the artist blends mineral, botanical and organic elements. Presented at the Salon de Montrouge in 2019, his drawings, charged with sexual symbolism, evoke reproductive systems, life paths and frame games.
