DRAWING NOW AWARD – A STRONG COMMITMENT SUPPORTED BY THE D. SOCIETY
THE AWARD
The DRAWING NOW Prize supports emerging art by granting 5,000 euros and a personal exhibition to an early career artist. The winner is selected among all artists aged under 45 who are presented as the focus of a booth at DRAWING NOW PARIS.
The gallery Selection Committee meets on the first day of the art fair to designate the laureate. Every year several distinguished personalities contribute to the committee’s efforts. This year, Nova Benway of the Drawing Center in New York and Jean Papahn of SOFERIM join Philippe Piguet, the fair’s artistic director, alongside Émilie Bouvard (art historian and national heritage curator), Julie Enckell Julliard (director of the Jenisch Vevey Museum), Elsy Lahner (contemporary art curator at the Albertina Museum), Joana P.R. Neves (writer and independent curator), Marc Donnadieu (head curator of contemporary art at the LaM), and the collector Daniel Schildge.

THE EXHIBITION OF THE LAUREATE
Christie’s auction house and DRAWING NOW created a friendly partnership since 2014, to make contemporary drawing better known to the public.
In this respect, Christie’s auction house is pleased to display the work of the 5th laureate of the DRAWING NOW award, Abdelkader Benchamma, during the spring drawing sales. This initiative is to reinforce the public’s interest to this medium and to contribute to a memorable meeting between collectors and amateurs.
