PROGRAM 2019

DRAWING NOW Art Fair offers not only a range of 65 international galleries and works by 400 artists, but also a whole programme of accompanying events.
In addition, the Mois du dessin (Drawing Month), inaugurated in 2018, is back, with even more exhibitions and workshops.

ACTION ! : PERFORMING DRAWING

Drawing is often considered as a performance art that requires endurance and physical effort but also a live observational skill. It is therefore readily associated with dance, artistic conferences, activism, music, and more.

An experimental form, it is an exchange in time and in a specific location in which marks indicate the trace of a gesture or thought as visual measures of sometimes ephemeral and quasi imponderable experiences.

During performances and recordings of drawing actions, the drawing tool is reinvented and specific fields extended. Sinuous lines can lead to the written and spoken word, musical interpretation, choreographed gestures, and topographies in the transitory space of art. Lines, sheets and diagrams dance, play, shout and think – performing drawing.

TALKS: A MEETING PROGRAM WITH INTERNATIONAL ART PERSONALITIES

The fair is a special moment for encounters with contemporary drawing professionals from around the world, offering guests the chance to participate in Talks and Artists Interviews. From performance to feminist perspectives, including innovative teaching stances through drawing, every year new topics reveal alternative paths within the medium of drawing.

You can find our Talks and interviews on our Youtube channel.

MASTER NOW

MASTER NOW is a programme within the fair. Philippe Piguet – member of the selection committee and Artistic Director from 2010 to 2018 – presents a selection of outstanding masterpieces by famous artists of the 20th century who made exciting use of the medium of drawing. Participating galleries within the fair are identified with a Master Now label – an opportunity to discover exceptional works.

THE DRAWING NOW PRIZE

The aim of the DRAWING NOW Prize is to accompany mid-career artists and to highlight the pioneering role of galleries.
The prize benefits from the financial backing of SOFERIM, the fair’s premium patron since its creation.
The winning artist receives an endowment of 5,000 euros through the Contemporary Drawing Endowment Fund (Fonds de dotation pour le dessin contemporain) and is given a personal exhibition the following year.
