Jana Gunstheimer, Image in Meditation

Goethe Institut

From March 31st to May 19th, 2016
Opening: March 30th, 7.30pm

As part of the fair of contemporary drawing “Drawing now“
An exhibition of the Goethe Institut of Paris in cooperation with the Morsbroich Museum

In her work, Jana Gustheimer (born in 1974, living and working in Jena) takes as a theme the images themselves – their life, the process of their creation and how they become images. The exhibition presents works from the past five years. The focus is on the self- contemplative, personified image. It’s all about the artistic work process, censorship and self-censorship, about images the world allows to be created and about those which are just mumbo-jumbo. There are images seeking the meaning of life, sleepless images and those which have been made under dwindling motivation.
