Présentation de la galerie

The contemporary art gallery CAR was founded in 2014 in Bologna as the brainchild of its current director, Davide Rosi Degli Esposti. It began as a project space and, for several years, the gallery’s name included the founder’s initials: CAR DRDE.
Recently, the gallery has chosen to renew itself and broaden its horizons in order to pursue new visions and objectives. It has been renamed CAR GALLERY, and its mission is to promote and disseminate contemporary art and its most recent practices, which often involve a variety of media.
The gallery’s new exhibition program focuses primarily on the younger generations of international and mid-career artists, juxtaposing them with artistic languages from different periods and creating new and original interpretative approaches.
At its core, the idea is that of an open and dynamic exhibition space devoted to international contemporary art, while remaining closely connected to its local context and diverse artistic expressions. It is a place where a wide and passionate audience can encounter new stimuli and research that go beyond trends and conventions.

Présentation du projet

On the occasion of the Drawing Now Paris fair, the gallery presents a solo project by the artist Trevor Gould (Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1951. He lives and works in Montréal, Canada).
Trevor Gould’s work highlights the complexities and mechanisms underlying the familiar nature/culture dualism that shapes our understanding of otherness. The artist also seeks to critique the performativity of the ideology of domination — still visible today — within artistic, scientific, and historical institutions such as museums, zoos, botanical gardens, and encyclopedias.
His reflections on history and culture are expressed through sculptural installations, video, performance, and a significant body of watercolor works on paper.
The presentation at the fair will focus on his production of watercolors on paper, accompanied by a sculptural installation. Gould’s artistic research makes extensive use of various media, and the works presented at the fair were created specifically for this project, establishing an original dialogue between painting and sculpture and highlighting the versatility of his practice.
